Creative Segments
Fruit of Life
- on Ring
The segment that embodies the design on the
Home page and following pages of this website.

The creative process was initiated in 2014 from the idea of combining a textile composition of the Fruit of Life with the metal element, considering the specific properties of each, the former in its association with
the feminine and the latter in its association with
the masculine.
Without yet knowing what kind of metal piece i was going to use, but with a circular shape in mind and a recycling intention, one day as i was walking down the street thinking about it, i synchronously came across a metal wheel cap retaining ring in front of me on the ground.
So i created the first piece and, later, when a second ring appeared in a similar way, i created the second.
These rings vary between 30 and 35 cm in diameter.
The 13 circles follow the same Creative Concept described in Intro Essence and other creative segments, except that their interior is neither open nor usable, as this creation acts as a dynamic whole.
Thus, opposing elements complementing and balancing each other also balance themselves, since the metal piece (masculine) has a feminine form and the textile piece (feminine) contains the masculine form in the invisible straight lines/strings that support it.
In the first piece, the black side and the iridescent white side of the 13 circles are directly thermo-bonded to each other - a feature unique to this first piece - Origin and Destiny, directly united by the Point of Light at the Centre of both, the Cosmic Act of Creation invoking the Human Act towards synthesis
in the Fruit of Life.
In the second piece, the black becomes invisible in the two circles thermally bonded to the inside of each of the outer faces (as is usual in my use of this black fabric), thus forming the void between the two sides,
an internal void filled with itself.
In this case, the coloured side was chosen to match my personal environment where this second piece hangs. In this one, i introduced a mobility variable that allows compositions to be formed between the two sides,
as can be seen in the Gallery at the bottom.
Between April and May 2017, two more pieces were made using rings found at different times that were waiting for inspiration, although i already knew who they were for: my two sons. This time there was an association between this Creative Segment and another creation from my teenage years that until now hadn't been integrated into the maria tudo project - macramé Bracelets - here combined with the colours of the respective fabrics.
This segment, only presented for the first time in November 2014 but created several months earlier, continues to expand in its own singularity . . .
. . . giving fruits to life
- quote in Intro Essence Page
- off String
And as if to confirm this, another embodiment of the Fruit of Life came about as part of an event organised by WakeSeed - Círculos de Sementes [Circles of Seeds] - which i was invited to take part in on the occasion of the Summer Solstice in 2014, with the theme that year being
‘The Four Elements’.
So i took the Flower of Life mini circle that is part
of the Harmonising String and multiplied it 13 x 4,
in the colours of the 4 elements, in a total of 52 mini circles, with the usual paper circle printed on both sides, here customised to the event, inserted in each one.
As can be seen in the Gallery below, in this case,
the Fruit of Life design was made up of the 13 mini circles in the colours of each element as a visual composition printed on posters for the event,
with the circles available for the visitors.
